About Us

The beginnings of Hájenka chalet date back to early 1970's when a small wooden cottage used to stand in Makov - Kasárne locality in the place of the current mountain hotel. At that time, the cottage was used just sporadically by the local population. Unfortunately, only a few photos from that amazing period have been retained, most of which are kept within private collections.

Both the appearance and ownership of the chalet were changing over the years. In 2004, the chalet underwent an extensive reconstruction, including addition of its major structural part, which was conducted by the current owners. A building permit was issued in April 2005 which allowed construction of the 1st stage of Hájenka mountain hotel. A permit approving the 2nd stage construction was granted on 5 September and the subsequent building efforts gave Hájenka its final look. The selection of materials, general layout of the rooms and external design were largely influenced by Messrs. Roman Bojňanský and Peter Rolinec who realised their idea of Hájenka hotel as representation of the Slovak and Walachian style. Thanks to the commitments and efforts of all those who contributed to the implementation of the project, Hájenka hotel was able to launch its first winter season in December 2005. Landscaping works were completed in summer 2006. Today, the silhouette of Hájenka mountain hotel is an inseparable part of the picturesque landscape at the foot of Veľký Javorník hill.

During the construction, the hotel owners minded the beautiful environment in which Hájenka is set and the hotel thus received its own waste water treatment plant, a well, and a heating system using an environmentally friendly heat pump. The hotel has high-standard technological infrastructure, including WiFi signal coverage in the entire hotel's ground-floor area.

Smoking is forbidden in the hotel.
